Hi there!
Welcome! I am absolutely thrilled that you've decided to visit my little slice of the internet!
I'm Jessi, the writer, creator, and clown on stage of Jubilant Jessi.
Why is this Jessi so jubilant? What does that even mean?
This is a place for happy things. Things that make you laugh. Smile. I want to give you a bit of joy as you go on about your day. If I go for the gold and inspire you to do something happy for yourself, then I get an A+ for the day!
Tidbits:
I'm 28 years old and I live in a small-ish sized town in Idaho.
I'm a college student, but I'm ALMOST done! I've entered into my final year of school and last semester before I start student teaching! I'll actually graduate with two degrees. (I'm super proud of that fact. Two degrees at once is freaking difficult!)
Yep, you guessed it, I'm going to be a teacher. A great one. I plan on teaching high school biology or history. Miss Frizzle from the Magic School Bus is my personal hero. Eventually, I'd like to become a stodgy, dusty college professor and teach some sort of history.
I am a yarn addict. There. I said it. I love to crochet and no, I don't knit. I often have too many projects going on at once and I drive my husband bonkers when I ask him what he thinks of this or that. You'll see a lot of crafty stuff on this blog, but mostly it will be crochet related items. I has the disease and I don't want the cure!
I am a strong supporter of handmade, green living, and becoming a fan of minimalism. Hippie is a word that is used to describe me often.
I read constantly. This summer, I read 76 books. It was glorious.
You may have noticed my hair looks different. I've had dreadlocks for 4 years now and I love them! Yes, I wash them. Yes, I keep them smelling nice. Yes, I'll probably let you touch them, but only if you ask nicely. No, I don't think they're gross, disgusting, or weird. Yes, I would keep them forever if I could get a job and teach with dreadlocks. Sometimes, I dye them funky colors. You don't want to miss it!
Cast and Crew:
I'm married to the love of my life. We have our own happy love story and it makes me feel like all those Disney movies I watched growing up as a kid had some truth to them. My hubster and I were partners in crime during high school before losing track of each other for lots of years. One day he showed up on my doorstep out of nowhere. He never left and now we've been married for 6 years. My own Happily Ever After. We have two daughters, Lily and Sage.
Lily is an 8 (closer to 9) year old who some days seems like she's older than I am. She's very wise in her own way. You are never bored when talking to Lily. She loves to read and color/paint/be an artist. This week she's been drawing her birthday and wedding cakes. As she drew her 12th birthday cake, she told me that it's a good thing she's an artist because otherwise the world would be ugly.
Lily's little sister, Sage, is getting closer every day to her terrible two's. This is the tyrant in a tiny body that rules over our house. She's got a cute face, so I think we'll keep her, but beware if you ignore her! Her favorite things are shoes and the Lorax. She also has a sweet spot for anything from Nightmare before Christmas. You'd think it'd scare her, but she giggles and laughs every time!
I blog because....
I have a lot to say. Ha!
I love to create things. Crochet things. Paint things. Read and comment on things. I like to share all of this with you in hopes that I can inspire you to create your own beautiful things. There is such a happy joy (a jubiliation!) in taking the time to make something yourself. It's even better when you finish and get to tell yourself, "I totally ROCK!" I used to not be so happy, but I eventually looked around me and realized that there are so many fantastically hard working, inspiring people in the world. I want to be one of those people. I want to amaze you in hopes that you'll turn around and amaze yourself or someone around you.
Any questions?
You can always, always, always, leave comments here or on any of my posts. I'll do my best to answer each one of them. You can also find my on pinterest, flickr, or facebook under the username jubilantjessi. I love email too! Email me at jubilantjessi@gmail.com
This is a personal, non-affiliated blog. That may change in the future, if it does, I will be sure to let you know! That said, if you have a product or idea that you'll think I'll enjoy, please email me! I am looking to start having giveaways and I love to share the word on people and things I believe the world should know about. I would be happy to consider your proposal and maybe we could work together to do something fun! Keep in mind, I'm a busy college attending mom of two, so my time may be limited. I would love to be considered if you are looking for guest posters, as long as the content is related to something I've posted on my blog before. I also do work as a pattern tester and a yarn tester, if you need references for these activities, please ask.
